John Maddin came to Broulee Public School all the way from Victoria with a big trailer full of amazing instruments that we practiced to play at a concert. This is our class practicing the two songs for the concert. By Nathan Teamwork, cooperation and fun were the key to the teams survival in the scooter board games played with Mr West.
Each player in the team had to make it from one side of the hall to the other without letting any body part (except hands) from touching the floor. Mrs Morgan and Mr West were able to intercept any empty scooter boards so the students had to solve the problem of moving the boards from one end to other. Eventually all survived We are learning about the 6 different types of simple machines so that we can use this knowledge to help us create our own Rube Goldberg machine.
So far we have learnt about inclined planes by pulling bricks up a ramp and levers by making our see-saw balance. Stay tuned for more experiments and finally a week of Rube Goldberg construction Activities included: Balloon Hovercraft, musical glasses, digital microscopes, static electricity, create your own creature, make a postcard piece of paper fit over two heads, blowing up a balloon using vinegar and bicarb soda and using lego to create a house for Roald Dahl's Twits. |
