On the 10 and 11 of September, Kayum F, Sunni W, Robert P, Daniel G, James G and myself Shannon W went to Gamer Development Jam at the Merimbula Learning Centre. Gamer Dev Jam is a computer programming convention. Some of the people who ran it had run a "Hackathon" last year, and at the Hackathon they made a game called "Castle Rush". Castle Rush is a game that involves VR Headsets, which are virtual reality goggles. You play the game by typing a URL into the search bar in a internet browser, then choosing a colour. Once you've chosen your colour, it comes up with a screen that says: Castle Rush. On that screen there is three buttons. One has a picture of a sword, one has a picture of a bow and the last has a picture of a club (the kind of club that trolls and giants use as weapons). You connect to a TV in a public area, then play the game. We all had a very good time. By Shannon Wade 3\4M.
On my weekend, I went to Gamer Dev Jam with my friends from BPS coding group. We learnt to use a new program called Unity. I didn't have this program and I didn't know my mum's password for the laptop to download it but I managed to crack the password!" I made a jet car stunt game on Unity and I showed Hex my game, she said it was a great game & asked me about how I made the platforms. After 2 long days of learning about coding I shut the laptop and said to myself "Ahh, What an awesome experience!". Kayum 3-4 M
On the weekend of the 10th and 11th of September,
I went to the Gamer Dev Jam with Robert and Kayum. When we got there I was amazed to find Shannon, James and Daniel! We were led into a room with computers and people everywhere. My Scratch project failed so I got to use Unity!!! (Unity is a professional coding program). There were great mentors that helped people to code. My mentor was Jack, he helped me to understand and use Unity. I made a rally car game and a flight simulator game on Unity. At first I felt stressed but when I got to know people, it was OK. It was great meeting Hex, from ABC TV and she liked my games. I was surprised to learn that there is a Degree for game creating. I instantly knew what I wanted to do when I go to University! I had had an awesome weekend.
